TRALA Academic Scholarship Program

The TRALA Academic Scholarship Program awards scholarships to assist children and grandchildren of full-time or part-time employees of TRALA member companies who plan to continue their education at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be dependent* children or grandchildren, of a full-time or part-time employee of TRALA member companies in North America with a minimum of one (1) year of employment as of the application deadline date.

    • *Dependent children or grandchildren are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children orgrandchildren living in the employee's household or primarily supported by the employee.

OR

  • Be a current full-time or part-time employee of a TRALA member company in North America with a minimum of one (1) year of employment as of the application deadline date. AND Be high school seniors, or graduates, or current college undergraduates.


AND

  • Plan to enroll or enrolled in full-time undergraduate study an accredited four-year college, university for the entire upcoming academic year.


AND

  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.


Children and grandchildren of former or current TRALA Board Members and Officers are ineligible.

Award Information  

The authorized distribution for new awards is $20,000. Up to 4 awards of $5,000 each will be granted. Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record

  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities

  • Work experience

  • Statement of goals and aspirations

  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of TRALA play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students that are not awarded a scholarship may reapply to the program each cycle they meet eligibility requirements.
 

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of TRALA. Payment is made in August.
