First Recipients Named for TRALA's Industry Scholarship Program
“The TRALA Industry Scholarship Program will help to insure that the most promising vocational students have an opportunity to pursue their career study regardless of their financial means. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to help these students and give back to our industry,” said TRALA President and CEO Thomas M. James.
Austin Elsmore, is a full-time apprentice technician at Kenworth Sales of Pocatello, Idaho in the evenings, and is attending Idaho State University full-time during the day with a focus on diesel mechanics and diesel electronics. Elsmore was on the Honor Roll for diesel program for the fall semester 2012. He placed second in the state FAA Arc Welding contest and Small Engines contest. In his free time, Elsmore is interested in truck pulling, working on trucks and snowmobiling.
Bradley, the son of Mark Lokken, an employee of Penske Truck Leasing Co. and his wife Kevan, attends Universal Technical Institute where he is enrolled in the Diesel and Industrial programs. In addition to his school work, Bradley is interested in rock crawlers, motorcycles and camping.
TRALA, based in Alexandria, VA, is a voluntary, non-profit national trade association, organized in 1978 to provide a unified and focused voice for the truck renting and leasing industry. TRALA's membership includes more than 500 leasing and rental firms and 100 suppliers that make up nearly the entire truck renting and leasing industry. The renting and leasing industry is responsible for approximately 35 percent of all new Class 3 through 8 commercial truck registrations.
