Rhode Island’s Chris Maxwell Receives TRALA’s State Trucking Award

Bonita Springs, Florida, April 3, 2023 -- The Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) honored Chris Maxwell, President of the Rhode Island Trucking Association with the association's State Trucking Award for his work in representing the industry.

"I was very pleased to present Chris with the TRALA State Trucking Award," said TRALA President and CEO, Jake Jacoby. “Chris personifies the strength of our partnerships with the state trucking associations across the country. Whether it is leading the fight against truck-only tolls or making sure to defeat any legislation related to rental or lease taxes that would negatively impact our industry, Chris always responds quickly and has been and remains a committed partner. He is a great example of the collaboration that exists between TRALA and our allies in the states.”

A native of Rhode Island, Chris grew up on Long Island, New York and is a graduate of Syracuse University. He spent 25 years in trucking and transportation safety as Vice President of Warwick, Rhode Island based heavy highway contractor D'Ambra Construction Company, Inc. He has been an active member of the Rhode Island Trucking Association (RITA) since 1987, serving as Chairman of its Board of Directors prior to being named President and CEO of RITA in 2011.

Mr. Maxwell is a member of the Rhode Island Statewide Transportation Planning Board and its Freight Advisory Committee, the Hope Club, and is past president of the East Greenwich, RI Chamber of Commerce. He was recognized by the American Trucking Associations with the President's TAEC Leadership Award in 2019. He is also the proud holder of a Commercial Driver License.

The TRALA State Trucking Award was established in 2016 to honor the state partners that help make TRALA so successful in all 50 states on legislative and regulatory issues, which impact the truck renting and leasing industry.
