Another Record-Breaking TRALA Annual Meeting Reflects Continued Economic Growth

Alexandria, VA – March 25, 2013 – The Truck Renting and Leasing Association's (TRALA) celebrated its 35th anniversary during its 2013 Annual Meeting, held March 11-14 at the Waldorf Astoria Naples in Naples, Florida. It was one the association's best-attended TRALA meeting in the past six years. TRALA had over 400 attendees in for the four-day meeting with 195 truck renting and leasing companies participating in the organization's 35th Annual Meeting representing the largest turn-out of leasing companies at a TRALA meeting in history.
This year's All-Conference Assembly held on March 13 included a keynote address from former Congressional Budget Office Director Doug Holtz-Eakin, who presented on current state of the economy and the decisions being made in Washington, D.C. Following his presentation, Holtz-Eakin moderated a panel of economists which featured William Strauss of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, John Felmy of the American Petroleum Institute (API) and Jim Meil of Eaton Corporation.
Other highlights from TRALA's Annual Meeting included a business session with representatives from the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) discussing the state of private truck fleets. A second workshop was presented by Drew Anderson of Vigillo, Inc. and Tom Bray of J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc. and covered several important topics such as EOBR mandate, MAP-21 and the ever changing CSA program. During Thursday's Awards Dinner, Steve Lawrence, CEO for Lawrence NationaLease was announced to the membership as the Board-elected 2013-2014 TRALA Chairman and received the gavel from outgoing chairman, Tom Brown, President for Brown NationaLease. The dinner concluded with the 2013 presentation of the Driver of the Year Award which was awarded to Ronald Johnson of Ace Hardware Corporation
The 2014 Annual Meeting is set for March 10-14, 2014 at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Online registration opens at www.trala.org in October.
