Tom Brown Honored with TRALA’s Steve Lawrence Legacy Award

Aventura, Florida, April 7, 2022 -- The Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) honored Tom Brown of Brown NationaLease with the Steve Lawrence Legacy Award during the association's 2022 Annual Meeting at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry in Aventura, Florida.

"Tom has been involved with TRALA nearly since its inception" said TRALA President and CEO, Jake Jacoby. "He has served on the Board of Directors for more than 25 years and served two separate terms as Chairman as well as serving in the role of TRALA Treasurer for the past several years. Tom has been instrumental in his dedication to our industry and to TRALA through his work in supporting key initiatives such as our congressional fly-in event held each June during the Executive Committee Meeting and our political action committee, TRALAPAC, formed in 2011. Tom has also been a key supporter of our Legal Action Committee, our Scholarship Program, and has been an important sounding board and advisor to me personally since I began at TRALA in 2010. I consider Tom to be one of the most important Board Members in TRALA's history.”

Tom is in his 53rd year serving in a leadership role of Brown NationaLease. The family-owned company was founded in 1940 by Tom's father and remains the oldest full-service truck leasing company in the Midwest. Tom expanded greatly on his father's vision, turning Brown NationaLease into a leader in truck leasing as well as expanding into multiple companies in the trucking, logistics, and warehouse businesses throughout his time as CEO of Brown NationaLease. Tom and his family now own and operate Brown Distribution Management Group; Brown Logistics, LLC; Greenfield Logistics; G & H Motor Freight; Centennial Warehousing and Logistics; Mid America Logistics Group, LLC; Brown Properties, LLC; Meadows Warehousing Co.; Brown Warehousing; Distribution Properties; Mid America PacLease and Transcredit, LLC.

In addition to TRALA, Tom currently is a board member of Corcentric (formerly AmeriQuest). Tom is actively involved in several organizations outside of the truck renting and leasing industry. He is a board member of the Des Moines Performing Arts and Rust College. Most notably, he recently retired from the board of the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies after 21 years of service.

The Steve Lawrence Legacy Award was named after one of the eight original founding Board Members of TRALA in 1978. TRALA created the award to recognize Lawrence's more than four decades of service to the industry and subsequently to recognize individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact on TRALA.
