BRIDGESTONE and PENSKE TRUCK LEASING have renewed their strategic partnership agreement to test, develop and deploy Bridgestone technology and mobility solutions for the commercial segment in the U.S. and Canada with a focus on more cost-effective and sustainable results for fleets. As part of the agreement, Penske will also remain a preferred customer of Bridgestone commercial tires and Bandag retread tires. . . ENTERPRISE FLEET MANAGEMENT and GEOTAB jointly conducted an Electric Vehicle Suitability Assessment (EVSA) on over 91,000 of the vehicles in their fleet where they discovered that 13% of their gas and diesel fleet could be economically replaced with range-capable electric models currently on the market, potentially saving $33 million and 194,000 tons of CO2 emissions over just 4 years. . . NAVISTAR recently launched its International Truck Uptime Academy, a 12-month technician apprenticeship program that offers paid, hands-on training in a real-world setting. . . DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA recently recognized 43 recipients of its 2020 Masters of Quality supplier award, which honors the top component and service suppliers to DTNA's Freightliner and Western Star brand trucks. . . NOREGON debuted its revamped JPRO Certification program which is used to train and certify users on JPRO, the company's in-shop diagnostic and troubleshooting application and, to date, more than 5,000 technicians, students, and industry professionals have enrolled in the program. . . U-HAUL is planning to open a 7-acre self-storage and truck rental site near the Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland with expectations to spend next year building a 100,000-square-foot storage facility with three levels and some 700 “indoor, ADA-accessible self-storage units with climate-control options and high-tech security features at affordable price points”. . . DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA is discontinuing production of the Western Star 5700 XE on-highway truck, but it said it will soon announce a successor product. . . PETERBILT MOTORS COMPANY recognized Jackson Group Peterbilt (JGP) as Peterbilt Dealer of the Year for achieving record investment and growth in 2021. JGP has invested in new and upgraded locations and completed acquisitions to expand its footprint, extending its delivery of customer service. . . PENSKE LOGISTICS celebrated 22 winners during the second annual Freight Management Carrier Awards program that were selected from among Penske's expansive base of trucking carriers operating within its freight management operations. . . EATON announced its Vehicle Group has demonstrated cylinder deactivation (CDA) as an effective technology for meeting future global emissions requirements for diesel-engine powered commercial vehicles.
