TRUCK RENTING AND LEASING ASSOCIATION READY TO PARTNER WITH STATE AND LOCAL HEALTH OFFICIALS TO STORE AND DISTRIBUTE COVID-19 VACCINE
Alexandria, VA – September 22, 2020 – The Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) announced its continued support for the U.S. government's race to find a vaccine to combat the COVID-19 virus.
Since the COVID-19 virus outbreak began just over six months ago, there has been a global race to find a vaccine to end the pandemic. Recent reports indicate that Operation Warp Speed, along with its partnership with several private companies, is making significant progress in finding a viable vaccine.
The truck renting and leasing industry stands ready to lend its vehicles, logistics, and warehouse network to not only store but also help distribute and deliver the millions of vaccines across the nation when the time comes to act. TRALA members account for more than 25% of all over-the-highway trucks and tractors in the U.S. today and TRALA's nearly 500 members have vehicles and facilities throughout the country that are willing and able to help provide Americans with the needed vaccinations.
TRALA President and CEO Jake Jacoby stated, “TRALA member companies are industry leaders in logistics, have the necessary refrigerated vehicles and equipment as part of their rental and leased fleets, and have the critical experience operating in every state and region in the country, which will be essential in the efficient delivery of a coronavirus vaccine.”
When federal, state, and local health officials begin the process of supplying vaccines, the truck renting and leasing industry will be ready to move quickly in a coordinated effort to partner with those officials to ensure that the vaccines are stored and distributed effectively.
Based in Alexandria, VA, TRALA is a voluntary, nonprofit national trade association organized in 1978 to provide the unified and focused voice for the truck renting and leasing industry. TRALA's membership includes nearly 500 leasing and rental firms and 100 suppliers that make up nearly the entire truck renting and leasing industry. TRALA members purchase approximately 30 percent of all Class 2 through 8 over-the-road commercial trucks and tractors operating in the U.S. today.
