DAN MURPHY OF IDEALEASE NAMED TRALA CHAIRMAN FOR 2020-2021

Alexandria, VA – March 18, 2020 – During a special meeting called by the Truck Renting and Leasing Association's (TRALA) Board of Directors last week, Dan Murphy, President and CEO of Idealease, Inc. was named Chairman.

“I am honored to accept this position for a second time and grateful to the Board of Directors for electing me to serve TRALA as its Chairman over the next year,” said Murphy.

TRALA was forced to postpone its 2020 Annual Meeting due to the threat from the coronavirus. The 2020 Annual Meeting will be rescheduled to September 27-30, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs, Florida. Due to the unexpected change in schedule, the TRALA Board decided to vote on all TRALA officers during the special meeting last week rather than wait six months until the TRALA Annual Meeting takes place.

Murphy said he will focus both on supporting the advocacy efforts of TRALA on the state level as well as in Washington DC. In addition, he stressed that it will be critical to make sure TRALA has the resources necessary to continue to win when it comes to legislative, regulatory and issue fronts.

“On the legislative front, it is our hope that Congress and the Trump Administration will work together on issues such as infrastructure, taxes, and other items that impact our industry and all TRALA members. Even if gridlock continues, we know the states will continue to pass legislation that directly effects TRALA members and we will be ready to act on a moment's notice. We are a unique, but important industry, and I think we have a great story to tell on Capitol Hill, in state capitals, and even to our customers. We put the newest, safest, cleanest and most technologically advanced trucks into service every day with the latest survey estimates showing TRALA members now purchase more than 30% of all over the highway trucks and tractors in North America,” said Murphy.

Murphy also noted that due to the significant impact caused by the coronavirus, he would make it a priority during his term to ensure regular members and suppliers continued to work together to support TRALA through its Legal Action Fund, TRALAPAC (the association's political action committee), and the postponed Annual Meeting. “While all our businesses face challenges during these uncertain times, we must make sure that TRALA continues to be just as effective in its legislative efforts and as the united voice for our industry,” said Murphy.

Larry Price, Director of Operations for Palmer Leasing had served as TRALA Chairman during the past year. Murphy expressed his gratitude for Larry's commitment to TRALA saying, “Larry has been a terrific Chairman for TRALA over the past year. Not only was he always willing to support our association but he was collaborative in his approach and showed great leadership during the past month as TRALA faced significant hurdles due to the coronavirus outbreak. I, along with the entire Board of Directors and TRALA staff, want to thank him for a job well done.”

In addition to Murphy, the TRALA Board of Directors elected the following members as officers:

  • BT Steadman, Managing Member for Vacuum Truck Rentals, was elected vice chairman,
  • Scott Anderson, Senior Vice President of Rush Truck Leasing, was elected secretary,
  • Tom Brown, CEO of Brown NationaLease, was elected treasurer
  • Larry Price, Director of Operations of Palmer Leasing Group, was elected immediate past chairman,
  • Jake Jacoby, continues as President and CEO of the Truck Renting and Leasing Association.

Newly elected and appointed members of the TRALA Board of Directors will be announced at the 2020 Annual Meeting in September.
