Alexandria, VA (May 4, 2017) -- Today, Truck Renting and Leasing Association President and CEO Jake Jacoby said the truck renting and leasing industry stands ready to support law enforcement and Homeland Security officials' efforts to protect Americans by preventing attacks using commercial vehicles.

"TRALA is committed to helping the truck renting and leasing industry remain vigilant against ramming attacks," Jacoby said in response to a recent Transportation Security Administration report. "TRALA already works with the TSA, FBI and other governmental agencies regularly to ensure its members are not only up-to-date on the latest security developments, but to also partner with those agencies in an effort to stop a future attack."

TRALA has produced a security and awareness brochure with the help of the federal government to assist rental truck company employees in their efforts to be as vigilant as possible. The brochure -- as well as other documents produced over the past few years -- illustrate the threats and what to look for when evaluating a potential customer.

Jacoby continued, "TRALA members realize they are often the first line of defense against a possible terror attack that could involve a commercial truck.  We will continue to coordinate with public and private organizations in order to try and keep us all safe."
