The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has announced a meeting to discuss the technical specifications for the Electronic Logging Device Rule (ELD).  The focus of this meeting will be to discuss how to help ELD manufacturers produce ELDs that will comply with the ELD rule.  FULL STORY

ROGER NIELSEN has been named President and CEO of Daimler Trucks North America. He replaced MARTIN DAUM who move up to become a member of the board of management and head of Daimler Trucks and Buses at DTNA's parent company, Germany's Daimler AG. . .Karmak has hired JOHN PACIONE as president/CEO of the company. . .JOAO FARIA has been appointed president of Eaton's vehicle group effective May 1.  He succeeds KENNETH DAVIS who announced he will retire August 1. . .STEPHEN LASKOWSKI has officially taken over as president of the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA). He replaces long-time president DAVID BRADLEY, who will step down at the end of this year. . .DEREK KAN of Lyft Inc. was nominated by President Trump to become the Undersecretary of Transportation for Policy if confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Kan would oversee executive and congressional directives for Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.

President Trump has unveiled an outline for his "America First" proposed budget for 2018 which requests $16.2 billion for the DOT's discretionary budget.  The cuts mostly affect air and mass transit transportation, but also include the elimination of funding for DOT's TIGER grants. FULL STORY
