RECEPTION IN HONOR OF TOM JAMES SUNDAY DECEMBER 21

TRALA President and CEO Tom James will be honored on Sunday, December 21 in Vienna, VA. He passed away suddenly Monday evening at his home in Arlington.

The reception will take place beginning at 12:00 PM at Clyde's Tysons Corner, 8332 Leesburg Pike, Vienna VA  22182.  Their phone number is 703-734-1901.

Tom had nearly thirty years of public and private sector experience working on legislative and regulatory issues.  For nearly thirteen years Tom worked for TRALA both in the role of Senior Vice President of Government Relations, and then as its President and CEO beginning in 2009.

As part of TRALA's advocacy efforts, Tom helped save the truck renting and leasing industry millions of dollars in excessive and unnecessary costs.  He was dedicated to ensuring that our industry continued to lead the way in introducing the safest, cleanest and most technologically advanced trucks in the world.

Prior to joining TRALA, Tom served as the Senior Vice President for the Furman Group, a government relations and public affairs firm focusing on infrastructure and resources issues.  He also worked on key transportation items when serving as Legislative Director for U.S. Congressman Bob Lagomarsino (R-CA).

Much more than any of these accomplishments though, Tom will be missed for his wit, charm, and exuberant personality.  When Tom walked into a room - you knew it!  His laugh and smile disarmed even the most stoic personality and everyone at TRALA along with his colleagues throughout the greater DC area will miss him greatly.

Most importantly, Tom was a loving single father to his two children and we all mourn for them at this time.  TRALA is in the process of coordinating with Tom's estate executor to support his children.  There will be a trust set up for each child that individuals and likely corporations can contribute to in the near future.  Details on how to give will be forthcoming but if you would like to help, let TRALA know.

Any questions about Tom can be directed to TRALA's Jake Jacoby at jjacoby@trala.org or 703-299-9120.
