Ryder System, Inc. Driver James Estepp Named TRALA Driver of Year

Alexandria, VA – March 16, 2012 – James Estepp of Austin, Texas, has logged almost 3 million miles driving tractor trailers over the past 37 years. For that lifetime performance of driving, James was selected as the Truck Renting and Leasing Association's (TRALA) 2012 Driver of the Year. This award program is sponsored by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

James, an employee of Ryder System, Inc., was recognized at TRALA's 2012 Annual Meeting on March 15 in Dana Point, California.  In addition to an all-expense paid trip to the event for himself and his wife, Marilyn, James received a trophy and cash prize.

“This is a distinct honor that our industry bestows each year upon only one driver possessing the highest excellence in driving and safety standards, as demonstrated throughout their careers,” said Tom James, president and CEO of TRALA. “James Estepp was chosen as the 2012 Driver of the Year because of his outstanding driving and safety record. “

With over 37 years of over the road driving experience, James Estepp's accomplishments speak for themselves.  He has been awarded the Driver of the Year 2011 for Ryder System's Supply Chain Solution and he was named Driver of Month six times in the past 21 years. He also helped Lockhart Texas Fire Department in rescuing two women that were stranded in high water in their car. James was able to use his liftgate to load the women to safety.
