TRALA IN THE NEWS - The Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) has requested an exemption from the electronic logging device (ELD) mandate through the end of the year for property-carrying trucks rented for 30 days or fewer. FULL STORY

FMCSA Posts TRALA ELD Petition in Federal Register

Today, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) posted the Truck Renting and Leasing Association's (TRALA) petition for an exemption from the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Rule in the Federal Register. In its petition, TRALA is requesting an exemption for short-term rentals, which are rented for 30 days or less. The exemption would last until December 31, 2018. Currently, TRALA members are operating under a 90-day waiver, which allows trucks rented for 30 days or less to continue to use paper logs to record their hours-of-service until April 19, 2018.

CONMET JOINS TRALA AS NEWEST ASSOCIATE MEMBER

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (March 12, 2018) -- ConMet is the newest associate member of the Truck Renting and Leasing Association, or TRALA, the nonprofit national trade association that provides the unified and focused voice for the truck renting and leasing industry.
 

TRALA Submits Amicus Brief to the United States Supreme Court

On March 7,  2018  the Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) submitted a Brief of Amicus Curiae to the Supreme Court of the United States, encouraging the court to consider Ortega v. J.B. Hunt Transportation. The Ortega v. J.B. Hunt case focuses on the state of California's effort to expand wage, meal, and rest break laws to trucks operating in interstate commerce, which is in violation of the federal preemption language included in the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act of 1994 (FAAAA). TRALA had previously filed a Brief of Amicus Curiae with the Supreme Court in the case of Dilts v. Penske Logistics, which unfortunately the Supreme Court decided against considering.
