Unifi Inc. Driver Jerry Brown Named TRALA Driver of Year

Alexandria, VA - April 5, 2006 - Jerry Brown of Jonesville, NC has logged over 2,985 million miles without a single preventable accident over the past 31 years on the road. For that lifetime performance, Brown has been selected as the Truck Renting and Leasing Association's 2006 Driver of the Year. This award program is sponsored by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Brown, a member of Unifi's Traffic Department, received his award at TRALA's annual meeting farewell dinner on March 31 in San Diego, California. In addition to an all-expense paid trip to the event for him and his wife, Kathy, Brown received a trophy and a cash prize.

"Jerry Brown was chosen 2006 Driver of the Year because of his outstanding driving record, and his years of volunteer services to the local community," said Peter J. Vroom, president and CEO of TRALA.

"This award is the biggest honor I have ever received," Rule said. "The trucking industry has been good to me and I hope to continue to be with them in the future."

Driving trucks clearly has not consumed Brown's life. He also put his driving skills to good use as active member of his community of Jonesville, North Carolina. He is a volunteer fireman and has been one for the past 22 years; he drives a van for the Fall Creek Baptist Church for its handicapped members; he's a volunteer for Relay for Life; and he's participated in Homeland Security Courses with the Arlington Fire Department.

In addition to the TRALA award, Brown received a Driver of the Month Award given by the North Carolina Trucking Association's Safety Management Council.

Unifi works closely with Salem NationaLease who nominated Brown for the TRALA award. "Jerry is a model employee and we are extremely proud of his accomplishments," said Rich Pizzuti, Unifi's Warehouse and Logistics Manager. "We salute Jerry for his dedication and wish him many more years of safe driving."

This year, 15 drivers will receive certificates of merit for their outstanding service. These drivers with outstanding service are:
