Employee Free Choice Act (Card Check)

TRALA is employing a strategy of direct communications with Congress and a broad internet-based grassroots campaign aimed at defeating federal legislation called the "Employee Free Choice Act" (EFCA). This legislation, expected to be considered by the United States Congress in 2009, would replace the current worker’s right to vote by private ballot on union representation with a public “card check” process. By taking away a worker’s right to private ballots and mandating federal arbitration in contract disputes, this legislation would invite fraud and corruption into workplace and maintenance shop decisions on union organizing and contract negotiations.
