TRALA Continues To Lobby Congress For Natural Gas Tax Extenders

TRALA continues to ask Congress to pass its tax extenders package in the next few months and as part of that package, TRALA is lobbying Congress to include both the natural gas property and excise tax credits.

As part of its alternative fuels strategy, TRALA has jointly written to Congress with the Natural Gas Vehicles for America (NGVAmerica) association, the American Trucking Associations, and the American Public Gas Association asking that Congress ensure that vital tax credits for fueling and infrastructure are continued.  You may view a copy of the letter sent to Congress by clicking here.

In addition, TRALA has asked that Congress consider a modification to the tax code that would more fairly treat liquefied natural gas (LNG) as compared to diesel.  Currently LNG is charged on a per gallon basis but because it has less energy per actual physical gallon, it effectively pays about 170 percent of that of diesel.  This creates a disincentive to invest in LNG.

TRALA remains committed to supporting natural gas as an alternative fuel because it increases American jobs, allows the U.S. to become more energy independent, and reduces greenhouse gases.  Without these tax credits, moving to natural gas vehicles is simply too cost prohibitive.
